Our mathematics curriculum is designed to develop students’ reasoning, logical thinking, resilience and independent problem solving. We aim not only to develop
the knowledge and skills required for school but also to instil an appreciation of the role played by mathematics in life and the world of work e.g. shopping,
budgeting, the building trade and technology.

Our teaching programme is designed to build confidence by using step-by-step methods and by revisiting topics regularly to consolidate understanding and to
improve memory. We work together as a department to consider each student’s specific needs to gain the best outcomes for our pupils. By offering a range of
pathways we strive for every student to realise their full potential in mathematics. The content and the scheme of work is designed so that each student can
access appropriate learning at their stage rather than on an age basis and is challenged and able to achieve in every lesson. We use a variety of teaching methods
as well as practical and IT resources to enhance the students’ understanding, to make lessons relevant and fun and to help our students engage with mathematics.
